Easter Island to Papeete

This South Pacific voyage is truly a string of island pearls. We’ll put our Zodiac boats to work so you can plant your personal flag on Dulcie Island and Henderson Island — both uninhabited — with rare birds and endemic flora; snorkel among pristine coral atolls; and explore remote beaches. You’ll visit Pitcairn Island, where mutinous Fletcher Christian landed HMS Bounty and Raroia, Tuamotus, final destination for Thor Heyerdahl and Kon Tiki.

Itinerary:

Day 1 - Easter Island, Chile
Arrive in Easter Island, Chile and check into your included hotel.

Day 2 - Easter Island, Chile
Morning at leisure. Prior to embarkation, enjoy a highlight tour of Easter Island en route to the ship. (Zodiac landing or touring)

Day 3 & 4 - At Sea

Day 5 - Ducie Island
Our small ship takes you into a virtually inaccessible coral atoll, a haven for hundreds of thousands of Murphy’s and Kermadac petrals. (Zodiac landing or touring)

Day 6 - Henderson Island
You’ll discover signs of pre-European habitation on this rarely visited raised-coral island, as well as endemic bird and plant species. (Zodiac landing or touring)

Day 7 - Pitcairn Island
In 1790, Fletcher Christian landed the HMS Bounty on Pitcairn. You’ll meet its 48 residents — many are descendents of the mutineers. (Zodiac landing or touring)

Day 8 - At Sea

Day 9 - Mangareva Island, French Polynesia
The inspiration for James Michener’s novel, Return to Paradise, Mangareva is a source of fine-quality black pearls. (Zodiac landing or touring)

Day 10 - Marutea Sud
Weather permitting, we call at this remote atoll for snorkeling, beachcombing and beach walks. (Zodiac landing or touring)

Day 11 - Pukarua, Tuamotus
Our Zodiacs will whisk you to a village on this remote atoll to sample local foods and a demonstration of Tuamotuan dancing. (Zodiac landing or touring)

Day 12 - At Sea

Day 13 - Raroia, Tuamotus
Explore Raroia, where Thor Heyerdahl’s Kon Tiki expedition arrived after a 101-day journey from South America. (Zodiac landing or touring)

Day 14 - Fakarava
Shop for black pearls and handcrafted goods or snorkel in the waters of this protected atoll, a UNESCO-classified nature reserve. (Zodiac landing or touring)

Day 15 - Ahe
Our Zodiacs will bring you to shore to enjoy white-sand beaches and swimming in the deep, clear waters around Ahe. (Zodiac landing or touring)

Day 16 - Rangiroa
Rangiroa’s warm crystalline waters offer some of the best swimming, snorkeling and diving in the South Pacific. (Zodiac landing or touring)

Day 17 - Mataiva
After a traditional lei greeting and dance performance, you’ll enjoy a walking tour of a classic South Pacific island village. (Zodiac landing or touring)

Day 18 - Papeete
Disembark or continue your journey with the next voyage.
