South America Itineraries
- Amazon Cruise Voyage
-
On this exclusive Amazon itinerary, you go deeper into the reserve and explore three different habitats so you have the best chance of spotting rare wildlife! On our Amazon Voyage, we’ll look for the Amazon’s myriad forms of wildlife — monkeys, birds, sloths and other mammals, pink and gray dolphins and many more.
- Upper Amazon
-
This Upper Amazon voyage explores a unique habitat, Peru’s Pacaya-Samiria Reserve, containing flooded forests that form the headwaters of the immense Amazon River. Take an Amazon River cruise aboard the elegant riverboat Delfin II, skimming past massive lily pads by day, and gaining a fresh perspective on life by night, as we spend our evenings relaxing on the open top deck under the stars.
- Chilean Fjords & Patagonia
-
Explore the Chilean Fjords, navigating through a series of channels and fjords, where the variety of hues change with each sunrise and sunset. From lush greens to icy blues and fiery reds, the kaleidoscope of Chile’s natural beauty envelopes us. The flora and fauna is rich and vibrant as are the people who inhabit these remote locales. As explorers, we marvel at the wildlife from Andean condors and Magellanic penguins to sea lions and Orcas.
- Rainforests & Ancient Cultures
-
From Salaverry, we discover the pre-Columbian excavations of El Brujo and then enjoy lunch and a folkloric show at a private hacienda. Isla Lobos de Tierra is home to a huge colony of sea lions and hundreds of blue-footed boobies. Near Paita are the beautiful Sechura Desert and San Pedro de Vice wetlands where birdwatchers will keenly watch for the 89 bird species registered here. From Guayaquil, tour a cocoa plantation or choose instead to fly to the World Heritage Site of Quito on an optional shore excursion. Isla de la Plata, in Ecuador, is so-named because Sir Francis Drake supposedly buried his treasure here. The treasure we find today is the Galapagos-like birdlife, including bluefooted boobies, frigate birds and waved albatross. In Costa Rica we’ll snorkel off Cocos Island, visit a sanctuary for orphaned monkeys, and hike through the tropical rainforests of Manuel Antonio National Park.
