Wilderness Discoverer Cruise Review
Itinerary: Alaska Inside Passage - Eastern Coves - July 2014
When we asked Linda to advise us on the best trip for us, we were (uncharacteristically, I hope!) demanding and pushy — we wanted to see some of the world's most amazing scenery and we wanted to hike a lot AND we wanted to kayak a lot AND we wanted everything else we hadn't thought of to be perfect also! We wanted it all!
Linda recommended the Un-Cruise Inner Reaches Eastern Coves cruise. We still can't believe how wonderful it was. It exceeded every expectation. We saw some of the world's most amazing scenery, and hiked and kayaked ourselves to exhaustion!

The crew was relaxed, charming, attentive, knowledgeable, and very capable. The bridge — where the ship's controls and communications are — was almost always open, so anyone could go in, and the captain or first mate would chat with you about the ship (or culture, or philosophy!) while still managing the ship!
The small size of the ship allowed us to go way off the beaten path and we were the only ship in sight for nearly the whole trip. The schedule allowed flexibility to adapt to the opportunities that presented themselves. There were many highlights -- but probably the best was in Frederick Sound. We saw a couple of whales a couple of miles away, and were satisfied. Then there were more, and they were closer. Then the captain cut all engines including the generator engine. The ship was silent and passengers were speaking in whispers as we were surrounded for hours by over two dozen feeding humpback whales (including cow/calf pairs), blowing and diving as close as 50 yards. It was so calm and quiet we could clearly hear them blowing even when they were a half mile away. We stayed there silently for over four hours with the whole scene illuminated by a slow, gorgeous sunset. If I didn't have the pictures to prove it, I'd wonder if it was all just a dream.
Linda, you are the best. We have already booked our next cruise with an onboard deposit for Baja. They said they will send you the paperwork. Very happy to work with you again.
