Wilderness Discoverer Cruise Review
Itinerary: Alaska Inside Passage - Western Coves - September 2011
Wow it was an adventure of a life time.
It was a blend of un-cruise with go at your own pace activities with causal dress, exploration, educational experience in a great outdoor setting.
Captain Marce and crew members ran a well organized fun cruise and knew our first names by the second day. We liked the relaxed atmosphere on board each night and sharing our stories while munching on appetizers and sipping our cocktails.
Our ship's captain took advantage of the changing elements by berthing in quiet harbors and coves. Near Brother's Island, we saw Orca whale pods swimming right next to our ship and Humpback whales "bubble net feeding," not once but all evening. In Petersburg we toured the harbor and talked to local fisherman about their jobs. (this is where the TV program "world's deadliest catch is filmed). Another highlight was taking the skiff to view Dawes Glacier, bergy bits, many water falls so close you could feel the mist from all the thundering water. The shore hike along the Windham Bay and kayaking in a stream filled with spawning salomon was awesome.
Thanks for everything.
