Regent Seven Seas Navigator Cruise Review
Itinerary: Alaska Vancouver to Seward - July 2014
Regent and the Navigator are a class operation. This was our second cruise and totally superior Mexico Riviera experience on a larger ship. We called Linda for a small ship, but my wife has some mobility issues so we were not able to do that. Linda suggested Regent and Silverseas as good options as they are not the mega vessels.
Regent appealed to us for their all inclusive. We flew from JFK and it was included in our fare. Someone who flies from lets say Portland also has air included but not apples to apples, we feel it was a good deal for us.
We add a few days prior in Vancouver with Linda's land expert and that all went well. Good hotels, good activities. We boarded the ship in Vancouver and sailed to Seward/Anchorage. We were short on vacation time so could not spend time in Anchorage which we would have liked to do.
Ship ... clean, pristine, comfortable. Never a line for anything, hard to believe close to 500 passengers. We had a Penthouse C Suite, lovely. King bed comfortable mattress. 300 sq ft and balcony. Joaal our Butler was habit forming. Little by little we understood what help he could be. The staff to passenger ratio is wonderful which is why we felt so well taken care of.
Food, was good, not always gourmet, but good. Steak in Prime 7 was exceptional. Suggest try all the various eating places as each has its own niche. We meet a couple who only ate at the buffet every night and was happy. ok...so who knows.
Shore Excursions - a little rough around around the edges. We were wait listed for two and that cleared once we were on the ship. If you do more than one a day you always have to come back to the ship inbetween. Go through security, check back in and then go out again. I think a lot of waste of time. All were run on time and organized well. One bike ride that was for serious riders could have been listed better as kids came and had to turn around. Whale watch boat was surrounded at one point, the crew said it was the best all summer. All free and included. Except for flight seeing we felt the included shore excursions were a great asset to choosing Regent.
Overall a good value for the money in our opinion. We would not want a larger ship then this. Regent has a good reputation and we are glad we could experience this for Alaska.
