British Columbia Cruise Review: Spirit of Yorktown

September 2009

Thank you for phone call asking about our trip. My general opinion as compared to about nine other small cruise experiences.

This was one of the best. Why?

  1. I love the calm waters, lush forests, mountains, and wildlife of Alaska and Puget Sound. { I used to live in Everett, WN }.
  2. I thought that Cruise West did a very good job compared to some others that we have been on including Lindblad and Ambercrombie and Kent.
  3. We had very, very good luck with the weather. Seven days with nothing but sun and clear skies ! ! Captain said he had never seen anything like it.
  4. The cabin was small and only adequate.
  5. This kind of cruise and ship attracts " good people " so we enjoyed easy frieindships and the closeness only available on small ships.

What was not so good ? 1 The stopover and town walks at Port Townsend and Friday Harbor were uninteresting and a waste of precious time. What was especially good about Cruise West ? The Captain and crew kept a good clean ship and seemed to handle the boat well in tight but interesting, picturesqe places. I thought the kitchen did a very good job. Good menu and good food. Management did an excellent job in hiring and training very good people for service in the dining room and housekeeping. What was my most enjoyable segment ? The day we spent in and around Desolation Sound. Thank you, Linda, for helping us to arrange this trip.
