Cruise Review: Spirit of Discovery

Wilderness Waterways - June 11, 2004

We loved our week on the Spirit of Discovery. It ended way to soon. We thank you for all your knowledge and recommendation, as we couldn't have been more pleased.

The Goldbelt Hotel was convenient and a good choice for arriving the extra night. Cruise West found us at the airport with our bear tags and transferred us immediately. 

The next afternoon we boarded the boat and met our fellow passengers and crew. We made fast friends and discovered some coincidences with a couple from Connecticut who knew friends of ours. 

The next eight days we were sailing the most magnificent scenery and waterways imaginable. We saw glaciers, animals, icebergs, bears, Tlingit Indians, seals, sea otters, bald eagles, fishing boats etc etc. We came to love our zodiac as it took us places we would not otherwise be able to see. Our time in Glacier Bay and at the Glacier Bay Lodge was a high point. We shopped to drop in Sitka after visiting the Raptor Center and seeing all the unique work they do on the bald eagles. We visited the malt shop per your suggestion, what a kick. We took a number of our new friends from the ship with us, only to find, some of the crew had already been there. They asked us how we knew about the malt shop, which gave us the chance to brag about you, our travel agent. 

The food was good, the cabin small and cozy, the crew exceptional.

Linda, thank you for all your help and knowledge, our trip would not have been so complete without your hard work on our behalf.
