Itinerary: Three Great Rivers

Ok, where do we start. Flying into Portland was easy. The Riverfront Hotel was lovely. Powell's bookstore was very enjoyable, Saturday Market in downtown was full of local color.

First impressions of our ship was overwhelming. We did not have such high expectations. Our CC category cabin could not have been more beautiful. We had the twin beds pushed together and it was very comfortable. Dinner our first night was exceptional and continued throughout the week. Good choices and well prepared food. Everyone at our tables seemed happy each meal.

Columbia River Gorge and Multnamah Falls was a highlight for me. The wind and water spraying in its natural beauty. We had drizzle and clouds which added to the beauty of the setting. The jet boat ride through Hell's Canyon was enjoyable, but a little more tame than expected. I pictured high adventure on this outing and it was calm and beautiful, very nice, but not what I expected.

We made some good friends with people from California who travel the world. They entertained us with their adventures every night at dinner. We exchanged e-mails and hope to keep in touch. We had late dinner which was good for us. Everyone seems to table hop at meals so you get to meet everyone. Being two "elderly" ladies that we are, we were concerned we would't fit in. We couldn't have been more wrong. The passengers ranged from a honeymoon couple in their 30's to an assortment of 50's,60's and us 70 somethings. Everyone seemed to be like minded and wouldn't step foot on one of those huge floating hotel type ships.

When my son puts my pictures up on internet I will send you some. We enjoyed this trip very much and will want to do another similar experience soon. Thank you for your help.
