Hudson River Fall Foliage - October 2007

Dear Linda,

No pictures could show the pallet of colors that we experienced through the leaves and foliage of this trip. I got the most kick out of the sidewalks and the array of beautiful fallen leaves. Harold took more pictures than you can imagine. He spends hours in the basement going through them and creating a memory book for our grandson. Yes we brought some leaves home with us. We have discovered the color fades. Being from Las Vegas we do not know such things.

Besides the fall foliage colors the trip was spectacular. I loved our cabin and the fact we had a king size bed. Enjoyed the smallness of the ship and getting to know all the passengers. By the third day all 46 of us knew each other by name or at least enough to say hello.

Highpoints for me were:

• West Point Chapel
• Albany the state capital
• FDR home in Kingston
• Halloween decorations in Sleepy Hollow and throughout the trip

Food was very good and served in reasonable portions. Fresh food seemed to be delivered to the ship every day. We had a favorite waitress and ate most our meals at her table. She was on the ship for a few weeks and was taking the year off from college to earn money. She was adorable and knew our every want before we asked.

Our only regret was not having enough time to stay a few days in New York before or after the cruise. It was a week away but seemed longer when we look back at all we did. We were busy every moment, but then there were others on the ship who were happy to find their comfortable chair on the observation deck and relax most of the time.

We hope to do this again maybe the Historic South.
