Istanbul stands guard at the entrance to the Black Sea and it is here that our cruise ends with two nights in one of the city's top hotels and the opportunity to explore the outstanding Byzantine and Ottoman buildings, as well as the glorious mosaics in the Byzantine 6th-century cathedral of Hagia Sophia, the Topkapi Palace and the beautiful Blue Mosque.
Your starting point, though, is no less impressive: you will have plenty of time to explore and appreciate the ancient sites of Athens before boarding Aegean Odyssey. It is then on to the beautiful Greek islands of sacred Delos, hedonistic Mykonos, stunning Santorini and crusader Rhodes. A call at the Cretan port of Rethimnon allows for a trip to the ruins of the Minoan palace of Knossos. As we sail along the coast of Turkey to Istanbul, you will also visit the remains of Troy, stunning Pergamon, the classical city of Ephesus and the ruins of Patara.
