Venice to Valletta

The glory that was Rome extended far beyond Italy, as you’ll discover in this eventful voyage that includes Croatia, Montenegro, Sicily and Malta. In Croatia, you’ll explore the palace of Emperor Diocletian and a Roman amphitheater. While in Montenegro, you’ll visit the town of Kotor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Taormina, a charming hillside town with breathtaking views of the sea, boasts Greek, Roman and Byzantine architecture, while Castellammare, Erice and Porto Empedocle feature architectural treasures from Greco-Roman, Saracen and Norman eras. Your voyage ends in historic Malta.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Venice, Italy
Arrive in Venice, Italy and check into your included hotel.

Day 2 - Venice, Italy
Morning at leisure. Prior to embarkation, enjoy a highlight tour of Venice en route to the ship

Day 3 - Porec, Croatia / Pula
Join your local guide for a tour of Porec and the Euphrasian Basilica, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, then on to Pula’s Roman ruins.

Day 4 - Split / Hvar Island
Explore Split, Croatia’s second largest city and home to the Diocletian Palace, built in the Middle Ages for Emperor Diocletian. (Zodiac landing or touring)

Day 5 - Kotor, Montenegro
Kotor, a town rich in tradition, is one of the best-preserved towns in the Mediterranean and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 6 - Bari, Italy
In Bari, experience the Basilica of San Nicola. Built in 1197, it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 7 - At Sea

Day 8 - Guardini Naxos (Taormina), Sicily / Strait of Messina / Stromboli Volcano
You’ll find echoes of the ancient world in the magnificent Roman amphitheater in the town of Taormina.

Day 9 - Castellammare
In Castellammare you’ll visit Segesta with its Roman amphitheater, circa 450 B.C. on the slopes of Monte Barbaro.

Day 10 - Trapani
Take a cable car from Trapani to Erice, a medieval village, where you’ll see Pepoli Castle and Venus Castle.

Day 11 - Porto Empedocle
In Agrigento, you can visit the Temple of Concord, one of several ancient structures in an acropolis built by the Romans.

Day 12 - Siracuse, Greece
Experience Greece’s legacy in the local museum, theater, quarry, and a grotto with amazing acoustics, then shop in the open-air market.

Day 13 - Valletta, Malta
